Tom Brown Park’s Celebrate America: Beginning at seven PM (7:00 PM) and ending at ten PM (10 PM). There will be live music and fireworks. Beginning at 7:15, the Billy Rigsby Band will play. Then the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra will play a set. The National Anthem will play at 9:45 PM and the fireworks will follow with the 1812 Overture being played at the grand finale.

Food trucks will be available at the event. Beer will be available for purchase for those 21+ in age. Activities for children will also occur.

There will be no shuttle for parking this year. Parking will close at 8:30 PM. Handicap parking has been moved closer to the event for this year, check in with a parking attendant upon arrival.

No personal fireworks, grills, tents, or pets are allowed. Please check the website for more information on the rules. Also check the website for information on inclement weather and/or safety directions.

Capital City Kiwanis is hosting their annual Firecracker 5K and 1-mile Sparkler fun run at Cascades Park. Proceeds will go towards Capital City Kiwanis Club and Virtual Kiwanis Club of Big Bend’s activities and services. Registration begins at 6:30 AM or can be done virtually. The race begins at 7:30 AM. This is a family friendly event.

Killearn Homeowners Association has a firework show at Shannon Lakes Park beginning at 5:30 PM.


Near-ish Events

Thomasville Fireworks (July 3rd): Fireworks will begin at 9 PM at Remington Park. Pets, golf carts and personal fireworks are not allowed.

Bainbridge Star-Spangled Flint (July 4): This is at the Earle May Boat Basin Park and begins at 5 PM with performances by Blanco Brown. This is free and open to everyone. There will also be food vendors and kids activities. Fireworks begin at 9 PM.

Wild Adventures Celebrate America Festival: this occurs for several select days up to July 11. There will be live shows, fireworks and a special appearance by the Harlem Globetrotters. Military veterans and personnel will be granted free admission to the park and discounted family tickets.

Valdosta VLPRA Fireworks (July 4): This is South Georgia’s largest fireworks show. This is put on by the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreations Authority (VLPRA). The best area to watch the show is around Norman Drive on the east side of I-75, exists 16 and 18. The fireworks will begin at 9:15 PM.

Apalachicola’s Independence Eve Celebration on Saturday, July 3rd at Riverfront Park starting at 6 PM. The Apalachicola Blues Authority featuring Bernard Simmons will perform. Admission is free but table reservations (on the dock) need to be done in advance. There will be food trucks at the Park beginning at 6 PM. There will be a parade at 6:30 PM that begins at Lafayette Park that will end at Riverfront Park. At 7 PM, there will be a Veteran’s Tribute with music and the national anthem. The fireworks will begin at 9:00 PM.

St. George Island 4th of July Parade and Fireworks will begin with a parade at 11:30 AM. Water guns are allowed (not not water balloons), dress for getting wet. Fireworks will begin behind the Blue Parrot Grill at dark-thirty.

Sopchoppy’s 47th Annual Independence Day Celebrations will begin with a parade on July 3rd in Downtown Sopchoppy at 10 AM. An all day festival will begin at Myron B. Hodge City Park. Admission is $2 and the park opens at 11 AM. There will be food and craft vendors as well as live entertainment. Later, fireworks will be shown on the banks of the Sopchoppy River to the music of The Southern Steele Band, the Michael Miller Band, and more.

On Television/Streaming

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will be shown on NBC on Sunday, July 4, from 8 PM - 10 PM ET. Performers include Tori Kelly, Black Pumas, Coldplay, OneRepublic, Blake Shelton, the Jonas Brothers, and Reba McEntire. Starting around 9:25 PM, the firework show will begin from five barges on the East River. Classical patriotic songs will occur during the fireworks performed by The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus and Broadway Inspirational Voices.

PBS’ A Capitol Fourth will be shown on PBS on Sunday, July 4, from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. Vanessa Williams will host the 41st airing from Washington, D.C. Performers include Jimmy Buffet, Alan Jackson, Cynthia Erivo, Pentatonix, Train, Gladys Knight, Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen. Renée Fleming will sing the national anthem. The National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jack Everly, will perform various songs including a tribute to Team USA (Olympic). The show will also stream on Facebook, Youtube and, PBS’ webpage and app. It will also be on demand from July 4-18.

Boston Pops July 4th Spectacular Concert will be shown on Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg’s website and on Bloomberg Radio from 8 PM to 11 PM. The fireworks begin at 10:30 PM. Performances by Mavis Staples and John Baptiste will occur as well as the Boston Pops, conducted by conductor Keith Lockhart.
