Some of the Tallahassee Farmer’s Markets are active whilst others are not. Please check before heading out.

July 2: Challenger Learning Center is updating its Youtube page weekly with new science experiments all this month. Some previous experiments were how to design a windmill, moon sand, invisible ink, and, ice fishing. New videos will be announced via their social media (facebook, instagram, youtube, twitter)

July 3: Virtual Happy Hour at Jeri’s Midtown Cafe, featuring Lee C. Peyton at 6:00 PM. This event will be streamed via facebook. Other virtual hours occur Wednesday lunchtimes and Friday evenings.

July 4: An American Celebration: Life Every Voice will be streamed from The Moon. The ethereal Avis Berry will be performing with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. The concert can be seen from TSO or the Moon’s websites. It will also show on WCTV.

The Tom Brown Park annual Celebrate America show and fireworks have been canceled.

July 5: A virtual show at the Venvi Art Gallery titled “Amidst Everything”. The artists showcasing their work are Julie Bowland, Ray Burggraf, Christina Klein, Mark Messersmith, Brinda Pamulapati, Leon Hicks, Dan Taylor, and Michelle Wilcox. It can be seen on the Venvi Art Gallery website but ends July 10th.

July 6: Virtual Chair Yoga at Goodwood Museum and Gardens (sign up required). 12:00-1:00 PM via Zoom. Repeat sessions are held on July 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30.

Mission San Luis’ free Virtual Summer Camp (ends August 31) continues. Each Monday a new weekly packet is uploaded.

July 7: Hatha Yoga at Goodwood Museum and Gardens (sign up required). 6:00-7:00 PM via Zoom. Repeat sessions every Tuesday in July (14, 21, 28).

Virtual Mindfulness and Meditation at Goodwood Museum and Gardens (sign up required). 11:00 AM-12:00 PM via Zoom.

July 8: Game Night at Goodwood Museum and Gardens (sign up required). 4:00 PM-5:30 PM via zoom. Bingo and Trivia are played.

July 9: The Tallahassee Film Society has a virtual bundle of three films (rental price $15). The three films are:

I Am Not Your Negro - Filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished, Remember This House. The documentary connects the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of #BlackLivesMatter. Baldwin’s first-person accounts are featured heavily, including his insight into the assassination of his friends, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr., and, Medgar Evers.

Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am -  An intimate meditation on the life and works of the legendary storyteller and Nobel prize-winner. The film includes discussions about her many critically acclaimed works, including novels “The Bluest Eye,” “Sula” and “Song of Solomon,” her role as an editor of iconic African-American literature and her time teaching at Princeton University.

Whose Streets - This film tells the story of the Ferguson, Missouri racial justice movement, which started with the death of Michael Brown.

July 11: Leon County Library’s Virtual Pop-Up Book Club beginning at 10:00 AM via Zoom. The book, Hannah's War by Jan Eliasberg, can be borrowed through the library (phone number for holds: (850) 606-2665).

Tallahassee Museum’s Swamp Stomp, starting at 4:00 P.M. Ticket holders are asked to social distance. Tickets are $9-12, free for members.

July 16: Leon County Library’s Mystery Book Club meets at 6:30 PM via Zoom. The book theme is “Ametuer Sleuths” and any book from the provided list is recommended.

July 19: Leon County’s Library Young (At Heart) Book Club meets at 3:00 PM via Zoom. The book up for discussion is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. A hold on the book can be placed via the website.

July 20: Family Fun: Animal Tales’ Animal Show, featuring live animals from around the world. Learn what they eat and where they’re from. Begins at 6:30 P.M. via the Library facebook page.

July 23: The Tallahassee Museum’s guest animals are Fennec Foxes on loan from Zooville USA, in Plant City, Florida. Fennec Foxes are native to arid regions of the Sahara to South Africa. They weigh around three pounds and have ears up to six inches long. These large ears give the foxes an excellent sense of hearing. The foxes will be visiting until September 30. Admission or membership is required for entry into the museum.

July 27: Family Fun: African Drum Show with William Yazid Johnson, featuring Johnson playing. Begins at 6:30 P.M. via the Libray facebook page.

July 31: The Kearney Center is hosting a monthly Drive-In movie, Jurrasic Park! The location is Summit East Technology Park and the gates will open at 7:00 p.m. with the movie starting at sunset (around 9:00 PM). Food trucks and a beer tent will be on-site for the movie. Tickets are $50 donation per carload, these donations help support the work of The Kearney Center during the COVID-19 crises.
