FIELD TRIPS AND AT-HOME ACTIVITIES

 

The Florida Historic Capitol Museum: Includes various types of home tours (audio, image, and a short video tour)

The Grove Museum: Virtual Tours with the Museum Staff that highlight the nature surrounding the house, the history, and the culture of the house. These are updated weekly.

The Challenger Learning Center: Virtual Lessons from the Challenger Staff meant to help with “STEAM” activities and education. You can also follow along on other social media, like YouTube.

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (Mag Lab): A series of virtual tours about the laboratory, how the magnets work, how they’re made, and the experiments that are done in the laboratory.

The John G. Riley House and Museum: Has some video material (no virtual tours) and information about the Rileys and Smokey Hollow.

Mission San Luis Virtual Tour: This is an interactive virtual tour of the entire mission

Tallahassee Museum: Activities for children such as a rattlesnake coloring page and a DIY bird feeder instruction sheet. Some smaller virtual tours, snippets (another), and a red wolf documentary can be found on YouTube.

The Museum of Florida History: An older virtual tour from their Youtube channel.

Goodwood Museum and Gardens: Virtual Tour from two teachers from Leon County School Systems (via YouTube).

The Knott House Museum: Is updated with video experiences and events (including small tours and history lessons)

→ The Museum of Fine Arts: Has a few retrospectives about exhibitions (current and past)

Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra: Updated regularly with concerts and performances

Florida State Parks: digital resources and a Manatee Camera as well as six other live cameras

Tallahassee Automobile Museum: No virtual tours but several videos of some of the cars featured at the museum including: Abraham Lincoln’s Hearse, the Batmobile, and cool older cars.

Gadsden Arts Center and Museum: While not part of the city of Tallahassee, Gadsen is close enough (and great enough) to include. They have tutorials on art projects and online galleries available.
