Things To Do This Weekend (January 24-26, 2020) in Tallahassee

HIGHLIGHTS


Friday, January 24: The Geese Duo Live will be performing at the Fox and Stag, in Midtown, at 9:00 PM. There is no cover, 21+ drinking (with ID).

Pigmania, at Goodwood Museum and Gardens, begins at 6:00 PM. The tickets are $75 for members and $115 for non-members. Food includes roast pigs, sausages, and raw oysters. Music will be provided by Belle and the Band. The open bar includes wine, beer, and bourbon.

The Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting its signature event, Canteens and Camo, at Flightline beginning at 6:00 PM. The theme for this year’s event is “South Pacific.” Tickets are through the Red Cross.


Saturday, January 25: Many Farmer’s Markets in town start in the morning at 9 or 10 AM.

Top Shelf Band will be performing at Fifth and Thomas, starting at 8:00 PM.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year (The Year of the Rat), the Taiwanese American Association of Tallahassee is having an event at Masa. It begins at 12:30 PM.

Tallahassee Beer Fest is happening at the Pavilion at the Center of Tallahassee beginning at 2:00 PM. Tickets cost $35 via Ticketmaster or at the site, next to Dreamland BBQ from 10-2 Tuesdays through Thursday. 65+ brewers and breweries are going to be present with over 200 different types of beers, ales, meads, ciders and sparkling sodas. All net proceeds go to the United Partners for Human Services. You must be 21+ with ID to enter into this event. There is also a race, The Beer Mile, registration costs $20 and comes with a shirt and 1 Lake Tribe Beckster per successful lap.

Sunday, January 26: The Tallahassee Community Chorus is performing three movements (Mozart, Handel, and Einhorn with scenes from the 1928 silent film ‘The Passion of Joan of Arc’). The concert begins at 4:00 PM at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall with tickets priced at $6-22.

Midtown Reader is beginning a new series, Afternoon with an Author, which features meet-and-greet events with local authors. The first author featured is Laura Huff, with her book Remembering Who You Are. The event begins at 2:00 PM at Midtown Reader.

Parkinson’s Outreach Association is hosting it’s Tulip Trot, a 5K (chip-timed USATF certified) or 1 Mile Fun Run at 12:30 PM, in order to help support people living locally with Parkinson’s disease. The race cost is $25.

Monday, January 27: Classical Revolution at Oology begins at 8:00 PM. There is no cover. The chamber music will be provided by various FSU students.

Tuesday, January 28: Opening Nights at FSU is presenting Kristen Chenoweth in Concert. The concert begins at 7:30 PM at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Tickets cost $65-85.

Parks and Rec Trivia will be played at The Brass Tap at Midtown Tallahassee starting at 7:00 PM.

Wednesday, January 29: Mike and Jan are hosting the Lab Sessions at Bird’s. There is no cover, the event begins at 6:00 PM.

Beckett Short Films, presented by the Irish Repertory Theatre, begins at 7:00 PM at All Saints Cinema. Tickets are $7-10 depending on Membership/Student ID.

Thursday, January 30:

Food Truck Thursday begins at 5:30 PM at Lake Ella. The musical guest is Crossroad, who begins at 6:30 PM.
Opening Nights is hosting the Cristina Pato Quartet at Opperman Music Hall beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $45.
