Things To Do This Weekend (January 17-19, 2020) in Tallahassee
HIGHLIGHTS
Friday, January 17: Redshirt Freshmen are performing at Fifth and Thomas beginning at 9:30 PM (doors open at 7 PM). No cover but 21+.
Flannel Friday by Lake Tribe Brewing Company, featuring craft beer, live music, food trucks, and fire pits, begins at 6:00 PM and goes until 10:00 PM. There is no cover. This is a reoccurring event until February 21, 2020.
Beethoven’s Fifth, performed by Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra at Ruby Diamond Auditorium, begins at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $25-52.
Saturday, January 18: Many Farmer’s Markets in town start in the morning at 9 or 10 AM.
Wildlife Encounters with St. Marks Wildlife and Tallahassee Museum at Native Nurseries from 2:00-4:00 PM. Some of the animals that will be there include hawks, owls and a red rat snake (named Checkers). This is a free event.
OVO, a show by Cirque du Soliel, is running all this weekend at the Civic Center. Tickets start around $50.
Cap City Video Lounge is showing a marathon of The Twilight Zone beginning at 2:30 PM until midnight. The entry is $6.
Sunday, January 19: Windsync, a woodwind quartet, is performing at Opperman Music Hall beginning at 4:00 PM. They’ll be performing works by Mellits, Offenbach, Gottschalk, Miranda, and, Beethoven. Tickets are $25 or $5 (for students).

Monday, January 20: The local chapter of the NAACP is hosting its annual MLK Service and Rally beginning at 10:00 AM. Rep. Ausley will be the keynote speaker.
Tuesday, January 21: An Evening with Karamo Brown, hosted by Golden Tribe Lecture Series, begins at 6:00 PM at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. This is a free event.
Trivia with Hank, at Midtown Pies, begins at 8:00 PM. It’s free to play with the first-place winner receiving a $20 tab.
Wednesday, January 22: The Apalachee Chapter of the Florida Trail Association is performing their Brisk Walk beginning at 4:30 PM (arrive at 4:15 PM). The walk is at JR Alford Greenway, Pedrick Road, Tallahassee. Sign-up is required; this is an intermediate walk.
Midtown Books is hosting its book club at 6:00 PM. The book being discussed is On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong.
Thursday, January 23: The Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) is premiering their latest exhibition on January 16 (previous Thursday). Every Thursday until the exhibition closes they will have a free program (including interactions like lectures, films, and maker events) in order for visitors to “learn more about the work in the exhibition, reflect and share their own experiences, and engage with the important climate and weather research being done across Florida State University and the Southeastern region.” The exhibition is called “Rising Water” and features artists from hurricane-impacted areas of the U.S. Another exhibition MoFA is showing is called “En Garde” and features historic prints, swords on loan from FSU’s World War II Institute and fencing equipment.
Food Truck Thursday begins at 5:30 PM at Lake Ella. The Wailing Wolves will be performing beginning at 6:30 PM.
