Things to Do This Weekend (August 23-25, 2019) in Tallahassee

Friday, August 23:
There are still some general admission tickets left for the FSU’s Alumni Kickoff Luncheon (11:30 AM to 1:30 PM).
The Crossroads Music Festival begins at 7:00 PM in Thomasville, Georgia. This is a two day festival that benefits Georgia farmers. Tickets are free/discounted for children and veterans and $25 per day or $45-65 for a two day pass.
Joel DaSilva & The Midnight Howl are performing at Bradfordville Blues Club at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $20.00 online and $25.00 at the door.
Highway 85 is performing at Fifth and Thomas at 8:30 PM. There is no cover.
Railroad Square Craft House is having their grand opening from 4:00 PM to midnight.
Saturday, August 24:
Tallahassee’s Downtown Market (9:00 AM) and Frenchtown Heritage Market (10:00 AM) are both open until 2:00 PM.
The 19th Annual Grape Harvest Festival begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM. It’s being held at the FAMU Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Research. There’s grape stomping contests, tours of the 45-acre vineyard, a petting zoo and food.
The All Saints Cinema is showing Norma Rae starting at 4:00 PM. Cover is $6.00.
Ball Greezy is performing at the Moon, doors open at 10:00 PM. Tickets cost $20 to $200.
While this event isn’t in Tallahassee proper, it is in association with Tallahassee Beer Society and Tallahassee Brew Bus. St. James Bay Golf Club is hosting its inaugural Brew Bash beginning on Friday and ending on Sunday. There are various ticket prices, including one with the Brew Bus. There are also various lodging choices from the Golf Club. Prices range from $35 to $150. St. James Golf Club is in Carrabelle, Florida.
Sunday, August 25:
Theatre Tallahassee presents the Drowsy Chaperone at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $25.00. The show runs until the first of September.
The fourth Sunday Sessions at Finnegan’s Wake begins at 7:00 PM and goes until 9:00 PM. The sessions feature traditional Irish music and entry is free.
Bar Trivia (and a movie) with Hank is at Capital City Video Lounge. The movie is the Never Ending Story. Cost is $5.00.
The next week, August 26-29
Tuesday, August 27: The Village Square is kicking off it’s 2019-2020 season. This is a members only event ($76.00 donation brings membership). The Village Square is bi-partisan community led group. They are located in four cities in the United States. The meeting seems to be at Harry’s Seafood and Grill.
Wednesday, August 28: Midtown Reader’s book club is discussing Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. The meeting begins at 6:00 PM.
Hearth and Soul is teaming up with Orange Therapy Fitness for a class. Spots must be reserved. The class begins at 5:45 and lasts one hour.
Thursday, August 29: Food Truck Thursday is occurring at Lake Ella from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The band Mechanical Lincoln will perform from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
Two different jazz events are taking place on Thursday. Jalen Baker Trio is performing at the Blue Tavern (8:00 -10:00 PM, $2.00 cover) and Level 8 has FSU music students dropping by for a session (8:00 PM-11PM, no cover).
