Things To Do This Weekend (June 28-30, 2019) in Tallahassee

HIGHLIGHTS

~This is a busy next week because of the July 4th festivities. Please drive safely and have a happy 4th of July!~

Friday, June 28:

The David Julia Band is performing at Bradfordville Blues Club starting at 9 PM. Tickets range from $20-$25.

Your Captain Speaking will perform at Fifth and Thomas starting at 9:30 PM. There’s no cover (must be 21+ to enter)

Saturday, June 29:

The Downtown and Frenchtown Markets begin in the morning and end early afternoon. Fresh produce and crafts are available for purchase.

Infinity Con Tallahassee, located at the Civic Center, starts at 10 AM and ends at 6 PM. This is a comic book convention (as well as video games, cosplay, sci-fi/fantasy, collectibles, etc.). Tickets vary between adults and children ($8 to $50). The web page has information on hotels, panels, event timelines, vendors and FAQs.

The Mickee Faust Club is presenting Queer as Faust XII Cabaret at the Adelaide Schnittman Hall. Doors open at 8 PM and their last run is Saturday (the 29th). Admission ranges from $15 to $20. Tickets are sold out at this time, but it might be worth it to call and see if you can be placed on a waiting list.

The Adventures of Annabelle Lyn is a dinner show at Fifth and Thomas. Fifth and Thomas will be serving dinner from 6-9 PM while Annabelle Lyn will be performing from 8-10 PM. Doors open for the concert at 7 PM. Tickets cost $8-10.

Sunday, June 30:

The Bottom Dollar Boys and Blue Hollar at Bradfordville Blue Club for their Bluegrass Sunday series. The show starts at 5:30 PM. Tickets are $7 (kids are free).

The Next Week, July 1-4:

Monday, July 1: IMAX is showing Oceans: Our Blue Planet in 3D. This is at the Challenger Learning Center

Wednesday, July 3: There’s a Farmer’s Market at Bannerman Crossing from 3-7 PM. Midtown Reader is hosting their second Page to Screen reading featuring Inherit The Wind. There will be a casual conversation about the book before a screening of the movie. It’s based on the Scopes Trial from the 1920s. The event is at Waterworks (next door to Midtown Reader) and starts at 8 PM.

Thursday, July 4:

There is also the 37th annual Firecracker 5K Race and 1-Mile Sparkler Run. This is being hosted by the Capital City Kiwanis Club and is located at Cascades Park. This begins at 6:30 AM and ends at 10 AM. There are different tickets packets (including one with tickets to Tom Brown below). You can register the day of (at 6:30 AM) or online.

The Celebrate America concert and fireworks at Tom Brown Park begins at 6 PM. There’s a shuttle service provided by Star Metro that picks up and drops off at the Kroger Center. ID is needed for any alcoholic consumption. The website has a breakdown on the event timeline, prohibited items (i.e. personal fireworks, no animals, no personal alcohol, etc.) and the schedule for busing.
