HIGHLIGHTS



Friday, November 15:

There are several block parties before the FSU and the FAMU games on Saturday, all have free entries: Adams Street Block Party begins at 5:30 PM; Groove Merchants is the main musical event. The Friday Night Block Party at College Town begins at 5 PM with musical guest Trea Landon. Northtown Getdown begins at 5:30 PM at Bannerman Crossings; Live music begins at 7 PM. Frenchtown Getdown begins at 6 PM with various acts.

Third Eye Blind, with Smallpool, is performing at the Capital City Amphitheater. Seating opens at 6 PM. Ticket prices begin at $37. Arrive early for parking.

Goodwood Museum is hosting Fanny’s Follies, a prohibition-era themed party. Guests may dress up in period garb, eat hors d’oeuvres, drink bathtub gin (and other specialty cocktails). VIP tickets include a pre-party one hour before and have access to a hidden speakeasy. The uber-talented Avis Berry will be singing. Tickets are $75-150 and the event begins at 7 PM.



Saturday, November 16: Many Farmer’s Markets in town start in the morning at 9 or 10 AM.

The Grove Museum is hosting a Nature’s Walk with a conversation about history, ecology, and sustainability. The walk begins at 10:30 AM and is free to the public.

The Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery is hosting their Narratives of Necessity Book Club at 11 AM. The book choice is Panther Baby: A Life of Rebellion and Reinvention by Jamal Joseph. The book connects to their current exhibition ("Walls Turned Sideway are Bridges: Narratives of Necessity," an exhibition about radical movements of the 1960s and 1970s).

Cory Harris and Todd Albright are performing at the Bradfordville Blues Club beginning at 9 PM. Tickets cost $20-25.



Sunday, November 17: This is the last night of the North Florida Fair. Tickets are $25.

The Tallahassee Community Chorus is performing their Fall Concert, ‘Majestic Mozart’, beginning at 4 PM. Tickets cost $6-22.





THE NEXT WEEK, NOVEMBER 18- NOVEMBER 21



Tuesday, November 19: Sister Hazel is performing at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall as part of the Opening Night Series. The concert begins at 7:30 PM and tickets cost $35-45.

Big Bend Poets and Writers are hosting Terry Galloway as their featured poet at Square Mug Cafe at 7 PM. Following will be an open mic.

Wednesday, November 20: Mike Lewis is performing with Jim Crozier at the Lab. The music begins at 6 PM.

Thursday, November 21: Level 8 is hosting Jazz Night, with performances by FSU students, which begins at 8 PM.

Food Truck Thursday begins at 5:30 PM at Lake Ella. The musical guest is Naugahyde Park.

FSU College of Music presents Brazilian Ensemble and Mas ‘n’ Steel world ensembles beginning at 7:30 PM in Opperman Music Hall. This is a free event.
